PROCEED

The Horizon Europe project PROCEED (Plant pROtein for agriCultural rEsilience and fEeD self-sufficiency) is coordinated by the University of Perugia. The project aims to reduce the dependence of Europe's livestock sector on imported protein feed by designing cropping systems for the sustainable and profitable production of locally sourced protein crops.

PROCEED establishes 11 national Practice Hubs that bring together crop producers, processors and feed supply chain actors, and host 15 Pilot Studies. Their results will inform an EU-wide roadmap for sustainable protein crop production. The Agricultural University of Athens coordinates the Greek Practice Hub and leads its Pilot Study on legume-based cropping systems.
